Paula Bresnahan, MSPT Bio Photo

Hobbies/Interests:

Paula originally began working at SPTA, as an aide and a billing assistant, after graduating from Boston College in 1995.  She went on to earn her Master's degree in P.T.  at the University of Miami and returned to SPTA as a physical therapist in 2000.  She is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA.   

 

Paula enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic diagnoses.  Her experiences in and out of the PT clinic have highlighted the sacroiliac joint, shoulder, and knee and challenged her to find optimal treatment techniques for each individual patient.  Paula works in our Acton, Lexington, and Sudbury locations.   

 

In her free time, you'll find Paula spending time with family and friends.  She enjoys jogging, skiing, snowboarding, golfing, and watching most any sport!  She ran the 2006 Boston Marathon as well as several other half marathons.

Melanie has been practicing in outpatient sports and orthopedic physical therapy since graduating with her Master’s degree in December of 1999.  Melanie treats a wide variety of orthopedic and sports injuries. Most of her post graduate course work and interests have focused on shoulder, knee and spine rehabilitation. Melanie likes to incorporate techniques such as graston / SASTM (http://www.grastontechnique.com/ ) and kinesiotaping (http://www.kinesiotaping.com/kinesio/method.html ) into her treatments to facilitate faster healing along with comprehensive exercise programs.  Melanie is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  

 

Melanie splits her time between the Lexington and Acton offices.??In her spare time, Melanie enjoys exercising, traveling and spending time with her husband, family and friends.

Mark graduated from Northeastern University with a BS in Rehabilitation Science and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He sees patients in both the Lexington and Acton offices. Mark enjoys working with a variety of patients and has clinical concentration in musculoskeletal and spine injuries in the sports and orthopedic populations. His clinical experiences have included acute care, acute rehabilitation as well as a variety of outpatient physical therapy clinics.   Mark also has experience as a lab instructor for the gross anatomy course at Northeastern University.
 
In his free time Mark enjoys spending time with his wife.

 

 
Amy Stokes Bio Photo

Hobbies/Interests: Amy graduated from Springfield College in 2006 with her Bachelor of Science in Sports Biology.  After graduation she moved to Boston and began working at Boston Medical Center (BM) in their outpatient physical therapy department.  At BMC Amy worked with individuals with spinal cord injuries and discovered her passion for helping others by improving their quality if like through physical therapy.  in 2008 she was accepted to Northeastern University for their Post- Baccalaureate Doctorate of Physical Therapy program and graduated in 2012.

 

Amy's clinical experience includes musculosckeletal, orthopedic and sports related injuries.  She continues life-long learning by attending regional and national conferences related to sports medicine.  Amy began running marathons five years ago throughout the East Coast, which gives her first hand knowledge and experience in running-related injuries.  She enjoys treating a variety of patients, but her treatment approach specializes in manual therapy, evidence based treatments, and posture education as well as clinical interest in biomechanical analysis.  Amy also strives to develop an individualized rehabilitation program for each patient to ensure they reach their personal goals in therapy.

 

In her spare time, Amy enjoys cooking, traveling, running and going to Maine to see family and friends, especially her nephews!

Christine graduated as a Physical Therapist Assistant in May 2010 and recently joined the SPTA team in Lexington.  She enjoys working in the orthopedic outpatient setting with patients of all ages and diagnosis.  In addition, she has worked as a fitness instructor and personal trainer for 14 years. She loves teaching a variety of classes including her own summer “bootcamp” class which challenges participants at every fitness level.  Running is her passion and she has successfully completed six marathons and many other races. 

 

When she’s not hitting the pavement, Christine enjoys reading and watching her kids play sports.

Julie graduated as a Physical Therapist Assistant in May 2011 and joined the SPTA team after having been a clinical student at our Lexington site.  She enjoys working in the orthopedic outpatient setting. In addition, she works at Winchester Hospital in an acute care inpatient setting.  Julie also worked as a program instructor running children’s programs such as swimming lessons and youth sports/conditioning camps at a health club for several years prior to becoming a PTA.
