Sports and Physical Therapy Associates (SPTA) is a group of Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers and exercise physiologists devoted to providing the community the most up to date injury detection, post injury rehab, and sports specific training in the New England area. Our group of athletic trainers are affiliated with the local high schools, colleges and pro teams. We have developed close relationships with MD’s from the major hospitals in the Boston area to allow our athletes to have quick access to acute medical evaluations. Our group of Physical Therapists and Assistants utilize evidence based therapy techniques with our patients. Our “SPTA” exercise progressions bring a patient from post injury through rehab to the final sports specific phase. Specialty programs include Lumbar injuries, ACL prevention and Post Concussion. SPTA Performing Arts is our group of Physical Therapists who specialize in the care and treatment of performing artists and dancers. We have a specialty with Ballet, Modern and Irish Step. Physical therapists Kristen Lung and Colleen Lively treat patients in our Wellesley clinic, which has a dance studio equipped with sprung floor, mirror, barre, and treatment tables allowing dancers to experience first hand one on one attention in their dance rehabilitation.Our experienced therapist Susan Kinney also provides onsite physical therapy for performing artists at The Boston Conservatory. SPTA Fitness are exercise physiologists and Physical Therapy assistants who are all CSCS strength conditioning specialists. Our SPTA exercise progressions progress the patient so that once they have finished Physical Therapy they can continue into a fitness program . Our Fitness Programs take into consideration their prior medical conditions. In some cases this can be covered under the patients health insurance. SPTA Occupational Health is our group of Physical therapists who treat the occupationally injured patient population. We treat these patients as “The Industrial Athlete” We utilize the same cutting edge techniques as our athletic population in regards to rehab but have a knowledge base of chronic overuse syndromes and poor ergonomics.
